Beauty Bar

San Diego's got a Beauty Bar of its very own. Located on a sketchy strip in City Heights, the bar attracts hipsters like the Gaslamp does tourists. DJs spin music that doesn't ever stray into ooontz-ooontz territory, from indie-pop to electro to funk-punk. Local bands play in the back patio area, which is also open air for smokers. You can get a $6 manicure while sipping a cocktail. And for people-watchers, the haircuts and outfits are plentiful.
Though Beauty Bar has only been open since December, there's no question it brings a refreshingly offbeat glamour to San Diego's nightlife scene.
