Chris K. Walsh brings a lifetime of experience to his role as Executive Chef of Confidential. Walsh will once again take pleasure in satisfying taste buds as he creates his eclectic global fusion small plate cuisine in the Historic Gaslamp Quarter of Downtown San Diego.

Owner of café W, a hip urban bistro located in Hillcrest, Walsh a past fourteen year veteran Executive Chef of California Cuisine has been recognized by Zagats-Top 5 San Diego Restaurants, San Diego Magazine-Best Chef, articles in Conde-Nast Traveler, and selected by Fodor's Guide. A pioneer of the San Diego small plate cuisine scene, his style was born from his love of grazing. His unique cuisine presentation allows his guests to experience and to sample a variety of small plate menu offerings. That style has received critical acclaim and has created an exciting social atmosphere in which food is shared.

Clearly among San Diego best chefs, Walsh's passionate appreciation for cuisine ironically began when he arrived late to "book day" in his fourth grade classroom. On book day he received the only book not selected by his classmates, a Charlie Brown Peanuts Lunch Bag Cookbook. The fourth grader first became entranced with mayonnaise and how everyday kitchen ingredients such as eggs, oil, mustard, vinegar and spices could be combined to create this common household condiment. Realizing the joy and the importance of food experimentation, Walsh set out to add his personal touches to the culinary world. At age 13 he was preparing sophisticated multiple course meals for his family and friends. Shortly thereafter he honed his culinary skills as a 16 year old sous chef of Ristorante Galileo, a Northern Italian style restaurant. He has spent time at the La Jolla Village Inn, The Abbey, and the once famous La Jolla Gustav Anders on his path to Executive Chef of California Cuisine, and ultimately to owning his own restaurant café W.

Chef Walsh's newest project, Confidential, will offer tempting tastes which include hints of Latin American, Pan Asian and Mediterranean cuisine with an emphasis on seasonal produce and simple preparation. Chef Walsh believes it is essential to keep his cuisine fresh and lively and incorporate cooking influences from around the globe. The imagination of Chef Walsh has resulted in fantastic presentation, sensory bliss, and smiles from the masses.
