A neon-green four-leaf clover marks the spot of Ocean Beach's Gallagher's, formerly home to Bullfrogs. On the turquoise walls inside, mirrors promote various beers, and there are flat-screen TVs in every room. There's even a fireplace, but why bother during the summer in San Diego?
The backlit green bar is the main attraction, with bartenders who seem to know less about their craft than barhoppers. When a friend asked about the wine, the bartender had to turn around and start reading the labels. It was amusing after a while and didn't seem to matter with Guinness and Newcastles about $5 each and top-shelf liquor $7 per cocktail. |
