From its humble beginnings as an empty, vacated space formerly occupied by the Home Federal bank, On Broadway Event Center has become San Diego's most posh and lavish destination, worthy of international recognition. The space On Broadway Event Center occupies rests in the lower level and first floor of the Torbati building located at 615 Broadway Street in Downtown San Diego. Built in 1926 by John D. Spreckles, for many years it was the highest building in San Diego.
Several million dollars has been spent remodeling the venue - transforming it from an empty bank building into an ultra modern event center. The goal of remodeling was to create a unique, beautiful space equally functional as a nightclub or an entertainment venue. Contemporary fixtures and state of the art sound and light equipment are found alongside the original marble floors, ornate ceilings, numerous arches, and two story Greek columns. The original bank vault has been renovated into a plush billiard lounge, complete with the original vault doors, each weighing several tons.
On Broadway Event Center was designed to be highly versatile. On the weekends the venue functions as a high-energy dance club, complete with computerized light show and 90,000 watt sound system. Offering three music formats including house, hip-hop, and 70's/80's, everyone is sure to be entertained. The Zen Café within On Broadway is open serving Pacific Rim cuisine and contemporary sushi delicacies. On other nights, the venue is available for private events ranging from weddings to meetings to sit-down dinners and large corporate parties. The venue is capable of hosting groups up to 2,000 people. Corporations, individuals, and event planners will be pleased with the plush surroundings and technological capabilities including large video monitors, PowerPoint capabilities, and multimedia technology |
